Which sailor senshi die

The Sailor Guardians hold hands in a ring and concentrate and an energy field forms around them. Artemis calls out " Sailor Artemis wishes them good luck. Luna hopes that the girls are going to be okay.

The cats can only wait now. The entrance to the Dark Kingdom is at the North Pole. Sailor Moon complains that she's cold. Sailor Mars snaps a reply, and Sailor Mercury locates the entrance, which the Sailor Guardians begin moving toward.

Their task is to stop and kill the Sailor Guardians before they can reach the Dark Kingdom. The storm stops and the weather clears. Sailor Moon sees an illusion of Tuxedo Mask calling for help and rushes forward. The other Sailor Guardians pile on top of her to stop her.

Sailor Mercury tells Sailor Moon that this is really a Youma , but this doesn't stop Sailor Moon from rushing to him again. Sailor Jupiter was about to destroy it when the illusion changed to Motoki.

Jupiter hesitates and four tentacles grab her and suspend her feet in the air. The Youma close in on her, preventing the other Sailor Senshi from cutting her free.

They attack Jupiter with electricity and she cries out. Jupiter invokes her " Supreme Thunder " and attacks electricity with electricity, using all of her power to retaliate. The attack is powered by such intense energy that it creates an explosion of electricity which freezes the surrounding environment into a bed of icy spikes, as well as blasting the remaining Youma away and the Sailor Senshi with snow.

Two of the Youma are killed by the backlash. Jupiter is left lying on an ice tree. The Sailor Moon tries to get to her, but Jupiter simply whispers some words of encouragement and dies. Sailor Moon screams and begs Makoto not to die.

Sailor Jupiter has been killed, and Sailor Moon's resolve has been crushed with the former's death. She is dragged off and yells to the Dark Kingdom that she will give up the Silver Crystal to save Makoto. Mars and Venus grab Sailor Moon, but she doesn't stop struggling. The gentle Mercury slaps the hysterical Sailor Moon and is as shocked by her action as Sailor Moon is.

She apologizes but reminds Sailor Moon that Makoto died for this mission that they all are committed to. Mercury's computer tells her that the other three Youma have regrouped and are heading their way. This writing is unbefuckinglievable. In any other situation, having the ghostly forms of the recently departed would be corny. Such is the balance that Sailor Moon hit that it not only got away with it, it turned it into something moving.

Now I sound corny as hell. My point is that the level of writing was such that they did not just want to devastate their young viewers like sick emotional sadists, they were trying to make something wonderful, and they succeeded. Pictures thankfully captured by The Oracle.

Find us on iTunes! Email Address:. This is it. This is the team, right here. My two favorites dying first and last, in probably the most prolonged deaths in the episode, were just salt in the wound.

But their deaths, traumatic as they were, also served a greater purpose. Each of them took out a Youma, except Ami, who took away their most hurtful power for all the good it did Minako and Rei. In her place at least after the Season 2 opener brings her back is the Usagi we come to know throughout the rest of the series, someone who understands the risks and dangers of being a Senshi even if she can still act self-centered sometimes — okay, a lot of the time.

Because something about watching your best friends die in front of you forces you to grow the hell up real quick. Yeah… this episode is one of the most traumatic things I have ever seen. They make you feel every one of those deaths. I still get very emotional.

You want to know what makes this episode ironic? The four Inner Senshi, on the other hands were the ones who rescued Usagi at their own expenses, rather than the other way around.

And yet, the Inner Senshi were all girls, compared to the Z-Fighters who fought Vegeta, and eventually Frieza, being mostly male. But when male characters die, they sacrifice themselves as heroes instead of go down as victims, just so that they could be brought back better than ever. The Inner Senshi and the Z-Fighters almost felt like the reverse. Four girls whose deaths were portrayed as heroic sacrifices designed to protect Usagi, compared to a whole slew of men who went down like victims who were overly dependent on Goku to save them.

While the original Japanese episodes showed Mars, Mercury, Jupiter and Venus die on screen during battles with the "Doom and Gloom Girls", the English version edited out these shots and had the baddies tell Sailor Moon that they had been "captured". Ironically since many fans associated the Negaverse with the underworld or "the other side" many took them being "captured" or "taken to the Negaverse" as meaning they had been killed.

The fact that their spirits also helped Sailor Moon at the end showed that even in the English version, Sailor Moon knew her friends had been killed. The actual shots of these deaths were edited out in the English version but they're still heavily implied. The third and final death happens during the last several episodes of Sailor Stars where Mars, Venus, Jupiter and Mercury are first killed by Galaxia.

Saturn and Pluto are then killed by Uranus and Neptune who are in turn killed by Galaxia. Tuxedo Mask is actually killed way back in Episode of Sailor Stars though we don't see how he died until Episode All the characters that were killed are revived through the power of their Star Seeds in the final episode of the series and it's stated that even if they are killed again they would be reincarnated again in a future time.

The fact that they were this time reincarnated back into their current timelines was due to the unusual circumstances involving their Star Seeds. The next time they die, their soul will be reincarnated into a future timeline. It's also worth mentioning that Sailor Mini Moon Sailor Chibi Moon was killed in the 6th episode of Sailor Stars when the future was altered enough so that she no longer existed. Luckily she flittered back into existence by the end of the episode.
